Social Security hearings are very slow to happen. Right now in the Asheville area, it takes about 2 to 2 and a 1/2 years to get a Social Security Hearing. There are three steps most people have to go through. The first tw0 are regularly denied. The third one you go in front of the judge, and then the judge has a few months to make his or her mind after your hearing. I would recommend that you consult with a lawyer who is familiar with the area and familiar with the procedures in Social Security to make sure you protect all of your rights.
